I love how nobody's reeeeeally certain what his outfit is lol
So I was feeling kinda down on myself last week--idk why, it's really out of character for me--and I was chatting with a friend while simultaneously trying to reread Double K, and then I felt 500% better and drew something to celebrate. It was gonna be something Double K-related but then said friend brought up pirates and then this happened. I really have to go watch Harlock asap lolololol
I'm kinda wishing Gainax had revisited/done more with/explained the original Captain Garlock, but I'm also slightly partial to the one they ended up going with, so I'm not complaining.
This was a couple days of on-and-off work, hindered by the fact that I stared at it all weekend not sure if I wanted to start or not, and that I conveniently have classes and homework. I wish my scanner was better so I don't have to go all-out with everything orz (not that I would have done a halfassed job with this one but I'm just saying)
Also I love spending 634869808462 hours on the background and then deciding that I'm not happy with it, then walking away, then realizing that I forgot to do one thing, rushing back to do it, and liking the background. Yeahhhhhh
(might add more to it or change it eventually, but for today/this week I'm done caring). I also ended up doing the stars by hand after trying 3 tutorials, none of which worked but looked like they would have worked if the canvas was smaller orz. (In the end the hand-drawn effect came closest to what I'd been going for)
I can also draw abs now?
Spam-listened to "Rock You Like a Hurricane" and some stuff from the TTGL soundtrack to get me motivated : D It workedddd
